Evaluation of the activities of the EU Intellectual Property Office related to enforcement and the
European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights (Regulation No 386/2012)

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs
has initiated this consultation. Its aim is to collect the views of citizens and stakeholders on whether
Regulation 386/2012 entrusting the EU Intellectual Property Office (EU IPO) with new tasks has
met its objective. The main aspect of this objective being to facilitate and support the activities of national authorities, the private sector
and EU institutions in the fight against infringements of intellectual property rights, in particular counterfeiting and piracy.
Contributions to this consultation are invited from all citizens and organisations.
Contributions are particularly welcome from businesses, SMEs and their associations;
holders of intellectual property rights and respective associations; legal professionals in
the area of intellectual property and respective associations; public prosecutors; law-enforcement and customs officials;
consumer associations and other non-governmental organisations.
