The European Observatory of ICT Standardisation (EUOS) has published a keynote report on 'Trust in the European digital space in the age of automated bots and fakes'
February, 2022
Status: Open
As part of its Landscape of Trusted Information Standards series, the Technical Working Group (TWG) of The European Observatory of ICT Standardisation (EUOS) has published its latest report through the European Union funded StandICT.eu 2023 project.
With support from the DG Connect of the European Commission, the report highlights the challenges and opportunities to European and global economies,
as well as democratic societies, from artificial intelligent (AI) driven automated bots and fake agents.
The report also provides insightful evidence of the latest techniques that are being utilised for disinformation that also present a viable and tangible threat to businesses and individuals, as well as democracy in general. The report confirms that the detection tools for fabricated persons and content are not sufficiently well-developed and need urgent supplementation by standards for handling identity and trustworthiness of sources of information, whilst preserving privacy.
In addition to exploring sustainable countermeasures, a number of key recommendations and policy-pointers are proposed for the European standards vanguards, policy makers and wider stakeholder communities.
